This is asuperb example of a vintage Native American missionsmall basket. It\'s very water tight weavehas approx. 16 stitches per linear inch and approx. 10 coils per inch.Juncus in four colors with foundation of possible deergrass / splints. Has a beautiful even patina with a design of diamonds and touching inverted triangles. It\'s condition is near perfect showing nobroken or missing weaves or stains.At the moment, it\'sexact tribal affiliation anddate of creation is undetermined but will post any additional information. Note: Information offered from several interested and knowledgeable er\'swho\'s opinions suggest that this basket doesn\'t appear mission butmore Mono Indian in make of barked root, redbud and sedge. Other suggestionsis possibly Yokut with it\'s design pattern resembling that of rattlesnake fromearly 1900\'s. If anyone isinterested in thisbasket andthinking about offerding, most willhave a good idea of it\'s origin but if not,it might help to ask someoneknowledgeable in this area to take a lookfor help with its affiliation.
