VINTAGE RAILROAD LANTERNMARKED B & O RAILROAD CONO GLOBE
You are offerding on a nice railroad lantern that is in good condition, has been repainted silver and hassome metal wear to the edge where the fuel burner is housed. This 10-1/2\" high (not including the 7\" high handle) lantern has a dome clip that holds a globe (not included) tightly in place. The bell shaped kerosene burner is present and screws into the base. The wick is present but the knob is tight when moving it up.There is one dent in the bottom edge of the base. There is no rust, no globe and no maker\'s name (just raised letters \"B & O RR Co.\" on apron). It has a pretty punched design around the top. It has a nice thick metal bail handle. This is the last lantern fromthe railroad collection that I was selling (some other things are listed). Happy offerding!

On Nov-15-16 at 05:57:36 PST, seller added the following information:

Here is a little more information about the lantern because I have had some inquires: I am guessing that it has been painted (I do not know how long ago) as it is much more shinier than my other lanterns. The thick sturdy handle has not been repainted except for a small portion near the bottom that got hit when the lid and apron was sprayed. It has a lovely roped pattern around it. The pattern has worn off slightly on top where it has become smooth from being used and hand carried and exposes some brass underneath. The lid has punched holes on the top (all very good) and a punched leaf like pattern all around the sides above the apron. All the punched leaves look sturdy except 3 are punched out a little more with a tiny bit of damage. Apron is sturdy with good punched hole hinges. Under the smoke dome lid, the metal is jagged and rugged but firm. The metal fitting on the lid (globe retainer) that snaps into the horizontal wire cage might have been replaced as it is attached to the lid and not stamped on. The cage is very good, sturdy and none of the metal is broken. The base is thick and strong. The only weak metal part is the well that holds the \"screw down\" fuel fount. Around the edges of this well, the metal is very thin and some small pieces have broken off. The bell shaped fuel fount has not been repainted and is in its original state and screws into the base tightly and snugly. I will try to include another close-up picture of the bail handle with the rope pattern.
