This one has the mounted style carrier marked with \"RIA 19??\" the date is obliterated. The canteen itself is a nice early Rock Island Arsenal example, with 1909 dated canvas cover. The front top has the words \"US\" and \"MEXICO\" written faintly. Then the words \"NORFOLK\", \"CUBA\", something I cant make out, \"PORTO RICO\", and \"PENSACOLA\". Below the blocked \"U.S.M.C.\" says \"NEW ORLEANS\", \"VERA CRUZ\", and \"PORT AU PRINCE\". To the lower left and right it says \"HAITI\" and \"CUBA\". Canteen is all there, cork stopper, chain, hanging hooks, and no dents. Shows some water stains,but a super veteran of some early USMC campaigns with a scarce mounted hanger.
