ANTIQUE GNOMECAST IRON DOORSTOP
Up for sale is a very nice antiquecast irondoorstop. It\'s listed as the \"Gnome\" and is pictured on page 68 in the book \"Doorstops\" by Jeanne Bertoia. The manufacturer is unknown, but it\'s believed to be from the 1920\'s or 1930\'s. I\'ve seen some sellers attribute this door stop tothe Hubley Manufacturing Company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but they do not cite their source of information.The doorstop stands about11\" tall and measures approximately 5 3/8\" wide near the center. The doorstop is held together with 2 screws, one near the tip of his hat and another in the center of his backside. He has his original paint and has not been touched up.I purchased this doorstop at a recent estate sale.It\'s listed in the Bertoia book as having a value of $225-$275. The doorstops.com web site lists a value of $250-$400. This doorstop isguaranteed to be a vintage cast iron doorstopand NOT a modern reproduction (to my knowledge, this doorstop has not been reproduced). Please check out my positive response and offer with confidence from a trusted seller.Condition of this vintage doorstop is EXCELLENT. It has some minor loss to the original paint and has not been touched up.Overall, it looks fantastic andwould make a fine addition to any doorstop collection.
