Japan. EXiB
A nice vintage tinplate clockwork Inter Planet
Space Captain robot with green body, orange
helmet, belt and gun and red tinplate feet,
made by the Tom Co. of Japan, not a 1960's
vintage toy, but I think a later 1980's version.
The toy is in excellent to near mint condition,
with minor playwear and just some small areas
of overpainting (probably factory touch-ups)
in places on the legs. The wind up function works
well and the robot walks along swinging its arms.
It measures about 8 inches tall and is marked
“TOM Japan” on the side of the body. Comes
with the key and a very good original box
which has a great space image on the lid.

Someone kindly sent me the following info about this toy -
This toy was made around 1999, it was made in China, Shanghai. Originally it had a made in China sticker over where it says made in Japan. Tin Tom's first toys were marked by him 'Made in Japan', this was obviously untrue and he stopped marking his later toys Japan but China as they should be.
Google alphadrome robot talk and you will find the tin tom toy story. He went out of business, selling the molds to Chinese manufacturers, this toy is now mass produced. The tom version is a better version for sure, but it's a made in China toy.
