Salmon Reel

This fabulous "Westley Richards - The Rolo" reel is in "as found" condition and has not been restored or repaired by us. Made by renowned reel maker "Walter Dingley", this is a good example of his superb craftsmanship.

The reel measures 4 1/4 inches across and has "Westley Richards and Co. Ltd, Birmingham" and "The Rolo" impressed in to the back plate and has a factory quarter rim cut out.

The reel still revolves well with a good smooth action and the brake and check mechanisms seem to work fine. There is no play when the spool is rocked.The ivorine handles are well attached. The smooth brass foot is sturdy and well attached, it is stamped "5" to one side.Internally the reel is stamped "D 881"
There are no cracks or splits to the reel that I can find and the reel has retained much of its' original finish and has usual light wear marks from years of use, however, it does have one or two small deeper scratches to the back plate, I have tried to show these in the photographs.All in all a fine reel that would grace any collection.
