Made in Japan by Yonezawa and circa the 1960\'s, Teddy The Artist remains one of the most elusive vintage battery operated toys to find complete with everything that it left the factory with. We thought we had seen complete examples over the years until we were lucky enough to acquire this example.
This battery operated tin toy is a mechanical marvel. Insert any one of 9 templates into Teddys\' desk and he begins to draw the picture as his eyes move up and down and head moves side to side as if scanning his work. The toy is in excellent condition and if it wasn\'t for the minor wear to the original crayons, we would have thought it was never played with. The lithography remains bright and clean and the battery box is spotless. It measures approximately 9 inches tall by 7 inches wide and works perfectly.
Astonishingly, this terrific toy is still complete with both original crayons, all nine templates, the sketch book containing a handful of blank sheets, the color picture guide, and both instruction sheets. The original plastic shipping bags are included, as is the plastic sleeve to make battery removal easier. Although the sleeve has a tear - it is rarely present at all with this toy. Expect some creasing and small tears to the instruction sheets.
The original box is in excellent condition with only a few minor scuffs/creases and a neatly repaired tear on a side panel.
