Voigtlander Bessa II Rangefinder Camera w/Heliar Lens
Price: US $645.00

At sale is a Bessa II rangefinder camera made by Voigtlander of Germany in 1951 and 1952. The camera uses 120 roll film in to produce 6x9cm negatives (almost panoramic). The Synchro-Compur shutter, with speeds B, 1 - 500, works well at all speeds. The speeds sound about right to the ear. The shutter speed dial moves smoothly and easily. This camera has a combination viewfinder and rangefinder that is clean and clear with no fungus, haze or dust. The rangefinder has a bright focusing spot and it is well aligned. The coated 105mm f/3.5 Color-Heilar lens is clean and clear with no fungus, or haze. However, there is a very faint and super thin scratch on the front element of the lens that can not be seen without a magnifier. It would make no perceptible difference in the quality of the image that this lens can produce. The aperture control ring works smoothly and easily. The diaphragm blades and shutter blades are free of oil, grease and rust. The focus control knob (on the top of the camera) moves smoothly and easily. The bellows are in very good condition with no pinholes or mis-folds. The lens deploys and collapses smoothly and easily. The camera is in excellent+ cosmetic condition with only the following defects: two minor scuffs on the front lens support and a minor deformation of the top lens strut (which is shown in the last picture that I have provided). I have had the camera checked by a camera technician and found that the slight deformation of the strut has no effect on the collimation of the lens with respect to the film plane. The leather covering is in fine shape all over the body. The black-painted metal parts are near perfect with no brassing. There are no dents or dings anywhere. All camera and lens functions work well. This camera is fully usable and would be a very reliable camera. This would also be a great prize for a collector.
