Up for sale is an Interesting 19thc Victorian Sheffield Folding Bowie Knife. I do not know a great deal about these knives and we do not sell many pieces like this. But having such a great design and folding mechanism I thought it might be a desirable/collectable example. I believe the hallmarks with cross makers marks would indicate the knife is made by the famous Sheffield Joseph Rogers knife company, and that it would have been made in the later Victorian era. The knife opens and folds out nicely and the blade locks in place securely. The blade is sharp and shows its age with some light spotting but has not been sharpened and overall for its age is in nice condition. The handle is brass and bull horn. The horn has shrunk a little over time and has a small crack and some wear but is overall in substantially good condition as well. The knife came from the estate with its original leather sheath that can be attached to a belt if desired. When folded up the knife measures 6-1/2inches long. When unfolded the knife measures in total 9-1/2inches long, and the blade itself measures 5-1/4inch long , by1-3/4 inches wide. This knife is a very interesting example and looks like something captain hook would have had in his possession!
