This necklace has a classical design with vibrant sparkle and the incorporation of hearts into the design adds a touch of charm. The necklace does not have any marks and perhaps was a custom made piece. The natural gemstones sit in an elevated crown setting and are faceted on both sides which allows the maximum amount of light to play and refract with the stones. The gemstones range in size and shape giving pretty contrast and visual interest to the strand. The central amethyst has at the edge of the setting a small drill hole though the stone indicating that the stone was used in another way originally, which supports the possibility that the necklace was custom made perhaps from other jewelry. This drill hole to the amethyst is noticeable only on very close inspection and it appears to be the only stone. The stones are of a fine quality with pretty color to the amethyst that shifts from a soft lavender color to a rich purple. There are a couple visible inclusions but they are modest and the stones have a vivid clarity. The white sapphires (which sit between the hearts to creat a bow like pendant) sparkle brightly and there are no chips or surface wear to any of the stones. The setting is well made, both delicate looking yet substantial with a quality weight and feel when worn. There are no irregularities to the setting or signs of repair. Overall this is a sparkling and beautifully made, 18k gold victorian revival necklace, that is from the 1930s and is in Excellent condition.
