Waterman 52 1/2 V Ripple, classic red and black hard rubber lever-filler fountain pen

A handsome ringtop pen, nice clean example, 11.25 cm long closed, 14.4 cm long with cap posted on barrel end.

Custom nib grinders will tell you that the tip that is the most difficult to do is the extra-fine. A super-fine tip has no room for error -- in comparison, a stub or italic is easy. The nib is a true factory needlepoint, not for the heavy-handed. On good smooth paper it performs beautifully, but with feel. There is a degree of flex available, allowing an elegantly shaded line. This is not the pen for those who cannot handle a nib with a bit of tooth.

This pen dates to the mid- to later 1920s. Only slighteven wear and nocracks or warpage or any other damage.

Do take a look at our other pens on offer -- many other brands offer the same writing qualities as a Waterman, often at substantially lower cost!

The pen has been fully reconditioned and cleaned inside and out; it has a new sac, and the nib has been tuned and tested. As usual, the shading shown in the writing sample involves no special techniques or excessive writing pressure.

We have over 25 years of experience in vintage pen restoration and tuning. Unless otherwise noted, our pens have been fully reconditioned and are ready to write. Authenticity is guaranteed.

Writing samples are on Rhodia paper with a 5mm grid. The samples are done with the actual pen listed, dipped in Quink blue-black ink. We willnot exaggerate the safe range of flex: a nib that is regularly pushed to its limits may develop cracks within a matter of months or even weeks. Our samples are all done with a light touch, flexing the nib onlyto the degree that it can sustain in regular, long-term use.
