Some more information about this Waterman 52.

This penwas made in New York, USA in the mid 1920s. It is a superb modern senior size at13.7cm or 5.4 inch capped. It still has its original paper price tag sticker on the barrel (Fine - No.52 - $2.75.) Rare. This pen is a Clipless example. NEVER had a clip. True writers pen. The Pen itself is made of BCHR (Black Chassed Hard Rubber). This pen looks to have been used very little if ever in its life with ultra deep, Waterman REG.US. Ideal etc Barrel Imprints and deep Chevron Chassing. However that has not prevented the pen from naturally aging over the years. It has a WARM Patina that befits its 90 years of age. Dark Chocolate. Not Jet Black anymore. Fascinating example of oxidation of Hard Rubber over the years.Under the paper price tag is Jet Black still as is the Front section you hold when writing. Protected by the cap. The Paper sticker tag would come off easily and if it had been held and written with for any length of time it would have faded and become dirty. I believe this pen was never used. Its age and patina are honest and natural testament of time itself. Personally I like these early pens to have a little warmth. Gives them charm. They are also fantastic writers. The 1900-20s USA waterman 52 number 2 nibs are among my favourites of all time. This one has a perfect nib. A simple joy to write with...

This pen is in superb condition. It has no cracks, splits or repairs etc. Other than the colour fade you would struggle to find a better example. The cap screws on and off perfect like New. Secure. The 14K Number 2F Flex Nib writes with a smooth Fine to medium Fine line at normal pressure. Also has great flex all the way to double Broad. Controlled flex. Not soft, loose or twitchy. I will add a writing sample in the next few days so you can see how this beauty writes....Great Pen.

Just a quick note about how well this pen writes.....
Writing samples and full photo set are now added.. I have to say what fun this nib was. Very creative nib. Even more flex than I thought. Can flex toTripleBroad. Also the ink flow qualities are off the chart good. Never skipped a beat even when in full flex. Beautiful feed. The nibs Iridium tips are perfect. So this nib was amazingly smooth even when full flex. I write fast and with little grace. This nib in the hands of an artist writer would offer variation of line so beautiful it simply leaves all other nibs in its dust..... I forgot just how good some of the 1920s number 2 Waterman nibs can be. A MINT nib helps of course...
Being a Full Flex nib it is perhaps not best suited to a novice or someone who has never used a fountain pen before etc... Although very user friendly for a flexible nib. If handled heavy or brutishly especially on the upstroke its tines WILL dig in and spray ink dots of protest until crossing like fingers in hope of areprieve from the butcher using it to let go...This nib is for theconnoisseur. Someone who understands flex and how to best to liberate it. The flex is controlled and not loose or twitchy, however is still more than happy upon command toaccommodatethe imagination of its user to the fullest. Flex as it should be. A++++ Nib. Theydon\'tcome any better.
