WATERMAN 54 1920s, RARE SMOOTH HARD RUBBER, FLEX NIB, RESTORED

CLASSY 1920s PEN, SLIGHTLY ITALIC LINE, WORKING

Waterman54 in black smooth hard rubber and gold filled trim.This is the bigger nibbed version of Waterman's workhorse 52, with the same size cap and barrel as the 52, but withthe upgraded 4-size nib.

Very good condition with nice near perfect trim, good legible imprints, typicalfading to the hard rubber.

The nib is fine to medium, slightly italic with no pressure-- the downstroke is a little wider than the lateral stroke. With pressure the nib shows a fair amount if flex, allowing it to make any sort of pointed pen calligraphy such as copperplate or spencerian. It's not overly soft, though, and is excellent for everyday writing, imparting a pleasant springiness to your writing.

Restored and working with a new sac installed. Length is just over 5 3/8 inches.
