Here\'s an exceptionally nice, meticulously calibrated Weston 981 (3A) tube tester. The tester has settings on its chart for many (but not all) Western Electric tubes, and it comes from the collection of renowned radio historian, test gear aficionado and vintage technology collector Alan Scott Douglas, author of Tube Testers & Classic Electronic Test Gear as well as Radio Manufacturers of the 1920\'s, the 3-volume \"bible\" of early radio collecting.

The 981 offered in this sale was owned, used and calibrated by Douglas himself, the man who literally wrote the book on collectible tube testers. It is the same 981 that\'s pictured on page 97 of his book Tube Testers & Electronic Test Gear.

Pictures should speak for themselves. There are minor scattered marks on the metal case, but everything on the panel is in nearly perfect condition, as is all the wiring beneath the panel. The tester was checked with 4 tubes whose emissions were known (two 6CA7\'s, a 6SN7 and a 6AQ5), and it is still correctly calibrated. Tube chart rolls through in both directions. Meter cover is clear.

With case closed, measures approximately 18\" x 15\" x 7\". Shipping weight, properly packed, will be about 45 lb.
