It comes directly from “A Date Which Will Live in Infamy” as President Franklin D. Roosevelt called the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan on December 7, 1941 that plummeted the United States into World War II.
 
This is a nice, bi-metallic, fully original \"Good For 5¢ In Trade\" token from the \"Non Commissioned Officers\" or NCO Club at \"Wheeler Field\" on the island of Oahu in Honolulu, Hawaii. At that time it was still in the \"Territory of Hawaii\".
 
The Schofield Barracks, please see the map below, were and are the Headquarters for the U.S. Army in Hawaii. Named for John McAllister Schofield, the Civil War General and later Secretary of War under Presidents Johnson and Grant who had recommended a Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. They are located adjacent to Wheeler Army Airfield.

Flying, for the military, was an Army function during and after World War II, until the Truman Administration installed the \"Department of Defense\" and created the United States Air Force as a separate institution in 1947. After the War Wheeler Field became an Air Force Base but in 1991 it was returned to the Army and is again today \"Wheeler Army Air Field\".
