Repurposing at its finest... what is a more useful and positive way to give new life and pay homage to the creatures once used in the making of fur garments? I love to reinvent fresh and new collectible teddy bears and bunnies, using only the finest vintage fur. All my bears are made with the utmost care and precision and comprise only the finest materials. Considerable time and attention goes into each and every one of my creations. And each one is my own personal design, unique and individual.
I am excited to present my newest and very beautiful little teddy bear made from Canadian majestic silver blue mink fur. Her name is Willow. She stands at about 8" tall. Silver blue mink fur is not that abundant, and in the 16 years I have been making teddy bears, I have just recently acquired my first silver blue mink coat. I have done only two other pieces in the past from blue mink, made from collars. The pictures certainly do not do Willow justice; she is much prettier and luxurious in the fur. She comes with a pretty blue bow and a pewter teddy bear and mini pewter chest.
- Willow stands at 8", not including ears, and sits at 6". She has a small pouch of steel shot in her belly and weighs 8 oz. (226 g)
- She has beautiful hand painted lavender colored glass eyes and epoxy resin hand sculpted eyelids featuring painted and sealed sclera (eye white)
- Her face has been meticulously scissor sculpted and delicately hand shaded, as well as her four paws
- Her umber and grey mottled nose has been hand sculpted, painted and sealed
- Her 4 grey leather paw pads are needle sculpted and hand shaded
- Willow is 5-way jointed; disc, washers, bolts, lock nuts in arms and legs and cotter-pin jointed for a semi wobbly neck joint, allowing for some very cute head tilts
- She has wire armature in her arms allowing them to bend at the elbow
- Willow comes with a pewter teddy bear pendant and mini pewter chest adorned with a little teddy bear holding a Christmas tree
Willow bears the signature "Linda Joan" on a leather tag attached to her derriere and as with all my creations, is dated and numbered and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a hang tag. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like additional information or pictures.
I have been designing and handcrafting teddy bears for 16 years. I am honored and humbled to have received numerous international awards, including URSA, Bears of Excellence, Toby (Industry Choice and People's Choice), Golden Teddy, Ace, and Sydney Peoples Choice. I am a Juried member of the New Brunswick Crafts Council, and have appeared on Canada's national French television network.
