LONDON: Publisher: Methuen & Co. 1926 [published date: 1926]. RARE TRUE FIRST EDITION. 1st Printing, First state. 8vo. 7.5\" x 5\" inches (LxB). Pp. x, (6), 158, (2) pages. Fine Original Publisher\'s deluxe blue calf leather, titles and pictorial design to spine and upper board gilt, map endpapers, all edges gilt. Illustrations throughout by E. H. Shepard. First edition, deluxe issue. One of only 3,000 copies bound in blue, red, or green leather, with the original first issue uncolored endpapers. First Edition, First Impression. Illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard. The bear described by Christopher Milne in his autobiography as his ‘inseparable companion’ has also become the inseparable companion of generations of children, and stayed faithful into adulthood. First appearing, along with his troop of animal friends, in 1924 in When We Were Very Young, Winnie the Pooh was immortalized in A A Milne\'s two volumes of poetry and two story books. The illustrations by E. H. Shepard are probably as much loved as Milne\'s prose; the combination of their talents make the books appeal so enduring - The Oxford Companion to Children’s Literature. A classic work. There are numerous close-up pictures of the contents given below; please click on them for a detailed description (See Scans below). Please take some time to view the 50+ pictures in detail, in order to gain a full idea of the contents and condition.

Inspired by stories made up to tell to his son, Christopher Robin Milne, the \'Winnie the Pooh Books\' (WHEN WE WERE YOUNG, WINNIE THE POOH, NOW WE ARE SIX & THE HOUSE AT POOH CORNER date published: 1924, 1926, 1927, 1928), quickly established themselves amongst the cornerstones of children\'s literature. Having been asked to provide some space fillers for Punch, these semi-fictitious accounts of his son\'s doings were transformed to verse and augmented and printed under the running title When We Were Very Young. This is the second of the famous WINNIE THE POOH Series issued from 1924 - 1928. An attractive copy of A. A. Milne\'s classic. The bear described by Christopher Milne in his autobiography as his ‘inseparable companion’ has also become the inseparable companion of generations of children, and stayed faithful into adulthood. First appearing, along with his troop of animal friends, in 1924 in When We Were Very Young, Winnie the Pooh was immortalized in A A Milne\'s these four volumes of poetry and story books. The illustrations by E. H. Shepard are probably as much loved as Milne\'s prose; the combination of their talents make the books appeal so enduring - The Oxford Companion to Children’s Literature.Winnie the Pooh (who appeared in essence in When We Were Very Young, but under the title of Edward Bear), that guaranteed Milne\'s immortality as a children\'s author. The tales of Pooh, Piglet and friends have been produced in 25 languages and sold 70 million copes since first publication, a figure that is still increasing at a rate of 500,000 copies a year. A children\'s classic work. Complete as issued.
