A very rare original WW2 British Army hand grenade manual, published just before D-Day in 1944. The book is very detailed and comprehensive, covering all the various grenades in use with the British forces during WW2. Full of detailed practical instructions and extensive information on hand and rifle grenades in common use at the time. It is very well illustrated with technical drawings of the grenades, using photographs and diagrams to show how they should be used in combat and the effects they caused when exploding. The grenades covered include: The No.36 Mills Bomb, No.68, No.69, No.73-75, Sticky Bombs, Incendiary Bombs, Molotov Cocktails, and many more. There are even details of the German Stielhandgranate 24 (The \'Stick\' Grenade).Condition:
An acceptable reading copy, with somedamage,in fair condition. The card cover is quite worn at the edges and spine, with signs of age and wear, marks and creases. There are some pencil notes on the rear cover. The stapled binding is secure, the hinges having been reinforced with archival paper tape. The first 25 pages of the text have damage and small pieces missing from the top sections near the spine. A few words are missing on some of these pages, but despite the damage being unsightly, the information on each page is onlysignificantly affected on the first 10 or 12 pages. From pages 25 to 50 there is minimaldamage, restricted to the top margin, and after page 50 the text is in good condition. There are some marks and creases throughout the text, but despite all the faults noted the information and illustrations in the book are largely unaffected. This is a very rare book, well worn and with faults, but still very readable and a great originalreference work for anyone interested in the subject.Published: 1944Dimensions: 120mm x 180mmPages: 100With numerous photographs & illustrations throughout

**** I\'ve just noticed the contents page mentions the German No. 39 Egg Grenade, an illustration of which should apparently be on page 101, the very last page off the book. There is no page 101 in the book, and it doesn\'t look as though there was one. However, we must presume that this page is missing and there is certainly no Egg grenade diagram in the book. Apologies for not noticing this earlier. The rest of the book is unaffected by this omission. ****
