WW2 Estey Traveling Chaplain\'s Pump Organ (Folding & Portable)
Price: US $202.49
This is a World War II military chaplain\'s pump organ made by ESTEY ORGAN Company, Brattleboro Vt. The organ folds into itself to form an easy-to-carry case; folds out, clips with two screws and is ready to play. The organ is of a simple design, easy to repair in the field, and designed to hold its \'key\' in adverse changing weather conditions. It was designed for traveling tent revival shows in the late 19th century. The US military purchased 500 per month during WWII for field services. It sounds like an old time tent revival service. The organ uses the same reeds found in harmonicas and accordions. It has two foot pedals to operate the bellows.

The closed dimensions are 30 inches x 20 inches x 11 inches, and it weighs 36 pounds.

The organ plays, but could use repair. Five of the reeds are not playing, but I believe this is because the air feed is loose. The bellows seem to be intact (I did not take it apart to confirm), but it does lose air due to the reed air feeds being loose. The case top was repaired in the 50\'s, and is solid, but it is not covered in the same black fabric as the rest of the case. The two clips to hold the keyboard in place (after folding out) are missing, but have been replaced by two screws that fit perfectly. The keys are yellowed with age, and a few are chipped.
