Over the next few weeks I will be placing items from the estate of Major General Clements McMullen, USAF on .Items will be placed every Thursday starting at 1:00 o\'clock PM, PST. All items listed will be original unless otherwise noted. General McMullen\'s flying career dates back to the pioneer aviators of the US military and the barnstorming days of old. He flew during World War I in the United States and along the Mexican boarder. After the war he became a pilot of note winning air races and setting international flying records. He served during World War II as a major general and became the commanding officer of the Far East Air Service. After WWII, General McMullen became the first deputy commander and chief-of-staff of the newly formed Strategic Air Command. In 1947, he allegedly was involved with the Roswell, New Mexico UFO incident and gave all the official orders to cover-up and contain the situation. Following his tour with the Strategic Air Command, General McMullen took command of SAAMA, the San Antonio Air Materiel Area located at Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Kelly and SAAMA was pivotal to the Korean War effort under hiscommand and also maintained the Convair B-36 Peacemaker bombers and the XC-99, at the time, the largest flying aircraft in the world. General McMullen retired in 1954 and died in 1959.

Items that will be offered over the next weeks will include: early aviation photos; YB-17 prototype photograph taken in 1937 and signed by Colonel Olds (father of the B-17) to General McMullen; photos of General McMullen with Captain Chuck Yeager who broke the sound barrier; personal photos of Emperor Hirohito; a collection of WWII nose art; personal photos of WWII theater operations and reports; and, the gemstone of his estate, one of the five original copies of the actual \"INSTRUMENT OF SURRENDER\" of all Japanese forces back to the United States in the Philippines, signed by Japanese and American generals with accompanying photos.

All are marked on the rear \"Official Air Corps Photo.\" Each photo measures approximately 4 7/8 X 3 3/4 inches. There is one extra photo of an aircraft in a service hanger.
