Offeredtoday is this Gorgeous Original re-painted ivory color Deco Model 511 BakeliteZenith mid century known as the racetrack model table 5 tube radio,AM broadcast band only from 1951. This set has only two minor issues worth mentioning onthe cabinet.The set was re-painted an ivory color a few years back and just over the dial at position 55 is a slight rough area that is hardly noticed,and when tuning the dial pointer it has atendencyto drop out of view just as it curves under the 120 position on the dial.Splittinghairshere both issues are very minor in nature and do not detract from the beauty of this radio or the operation and performance of it!
The cabinetoriginal factory paint was a very bland gray color and loaded with chips thus a re-paint was in order to give the radio new life, and re-painted a traditional ivory color. This model came in amyriadof colors from the factory and this ivory color is a perfect match to the original used in 1951 on this very same model! The Z emblem is illuminated when the radio is in operation, with sparkling clean deco ebony knobs. The original Back has worn top corners however fits solid! The factory painted id model numbers are still present on the cabinet bottom along with the original dull gray painted bottom! This radio has a 5 tube chassis and is very clean with no rusting.
This Iconic set is exhibiting beautiful condition for a near 65 year old vintage and plays as good as it looks. Will display and play in any collectionwith pride.
