Our forum has been running for 6 months without issue, but on Wednesday, I attempted to give Admin permission to edit one particular forum. After that attempt, ALL permissions for the Admin save for "See Forum" were rescinded. And the "0" for all of these permissions was permanent. All attempts to edit permissions were futile.

In order to trouble shoot, I spent half a day trying to figure out what was prohibiting Admin from being able to edit these permissions:
  • Edited through individual Forum Permissions
  • Edited through Group Management

No matter what I tried (and I thought outside the box), when the attempted relevant "update" was submitted, the permissions field edits were not saved and once again every "1" was reset to "0".
Finally, I went into the server side php.my.admin and set relevant field values to "1" in the FORUM_PERMISSIONS table for Administrator GROUP_ID (=1) and that fixed the problem. But if I attempt to do anything through the control panel, these "1" values all revert to "0".

I've rechecked the file read/write permission codes and for the most part they match the recommended list. (I have to admit, it's not clear if directories within directories are supposed to share level when they aren't specifically listed.) The Control Panel Permission Checks all display the (OK).

I'm able to edit through php-Admin, but would prefer to know what's going on and fix it, as this is clearly a problem in the long-term!

Thanks for your help,
