Initially I'm just porting over to mysql with a dbi like interface. Getting it working with postgres will be fairly simple. I will just need to check the function calls for postgres and write the postgres.inc.php file. Then it will just be a matter of changing the one line in the main.inc.php file to use the postgres include instead of the mysql one.
