Sometimes the text in a post is too wide and doesn't fit the screen, so users must use the horizontal bar to go back and forth in order to read a thread. What causes this? I have noticed that sometimes when a URL is posted, this can cause the text on the page to widen too much as well.

Any suggestions on how to correct the problem? Can a too-wide note be resized once it has been posted?

Thanks much!

There's nothing that you can do besides, say, educating your users about the UBB's [url=] tag format...

Thanks for the reponse, but I know about the URL tag format <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> The too-wide text screens appear sometimes, though, even when there is no URL contained within the note.

So there's nothing that can be done? My users are wondering for the next time they post just text, no URLs, and this happens.

Does posting a long note somehow cause the too-wide screen to appear?

It has to do with tables, HTML, and a lack of word wrapping. I dunno if there has been a fix for this yet or not. May be a suggestion for HTML 5.0 -- or, if possible, a fix for Infopop.

Rendering the text is a function of the browser, not the webpage. For instance, this particular reply page is about 2% too wide for this notebook's screen with ICQ docked to the side. There's nothing that can be done to help that other than redesign the page...

Ok, thanks. Did notice that these pages in the UBB Support Forum seem to be a tad too wide <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Get this...one of my members pointed out a fix to the problem...for Netscape Navigator, you can go to the top, click on "View" then "Decrease Font". This minimizes the pages.

For Internet Explorer I also went to View, chose Text Size, and then Smaller. This minimizes the text so that it fits entirely on the screen.
