Hi! I use UBB 5.45c. Everything used to work perfectly, but lately the light bulbs don't reflect new/old posts anymore. Most all the bulbs are on now, and through clearing cookies, trying different browsers, and everything, I can't get it to work. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Ira

Check your cookie setting under your General settings in your Control panel. In addition if you're using I.E. 6.0.x and your UBB is within a frame, your browser will have a problem setting the correct cookie. Let us know what happens.

I checked my cookies setting, and it was set to the directory rather than to the domain. I switched that, updated everything, and it still doesn't seem to be updating for me. I don't use frames either.

Possibly it's just my browsers though, and with other people it may work just fine, but I tried the Preferences-"delete all cookies" option, changing my browser settings to allow all cookies from my website, etc. but still no luck???

Enter the Preferences area on your board - there will be a link somewhere there to clear your cookies. Use it.

That SHOULD take care of the problem.

Sorry, but as I mentioned above, I've already tried that one. Is it working for anybody else? If so, it's probably just something with my own browser, which I can live with. The important thing is for it to work right for everybody else.

Oops. I guess it was my browser. Although I did try deleting cookies how you mentioned a couple of times, it was still a problem with cookies set on my computer. I went into my internet options and deleted ALL cookies off my computer, and that fixed the problem. Thanks alot for the help.

Were you using IE 5.0 by chance?

Even worse. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

IE has a very poor reputation as far as cookies are concerned...

Ok, thank you very much for the info. What browser do you personally use?

oh yeah, and does this new version of UBB compensate for the cookies problems with IE browsers?

I use IE6, Mozilla, and Opera.. I test things a LOT. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Unfortunately, the IE issue is with IE itself... it's only something that users can fix. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

(There is a way to get this done using P3P privacy headers, but the last time I checked, there were no working P3P generators...)
