Right now I can only access my conrol panel through http://anon.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.gaters.net/ubb/cp.html

because my isp hasn't updated their DNS thing.
http://www.gaters.net/ubb/cp.html

But that's the normal url. Though, I think if you try to access it within the next day it will point to my OLD ubb.

I have moved it to a new server, and while setting up, I CAN NOT ACCESS ANY OLD USERNAMES.

I basically locked myself out of the whole ubb. I set the paths with Admin5 but promptly deleted it after so no one would hack it.

There are almost 400 usernames on my forum and none can be used.

What's wrong? All Members dir files are chmod 777, and so is the actual folder.

Please help, my users will destroy me!

The Infopop copyright and powered by information at the bottom of Ultimate.cgi has been removed. We cannot help you until it is restored.

oh wait. If you look at it through anonymizer.com it truncates the page for some reason.
There is actually quite a lot more stuff below there. including who's online, webring logos, more copyright information relating to the topic of my forum, a voting poll, current world times, priv mess, advertising, key, other footer information... and...

Ultimate Bulletin Board Version 5.45c

so there!

I have no clue why it's being cut-off through anonymizer. But it should be alright when the domain points to the new ubb.

Unfortunately using both links you have provided above, the copyright is still missing. If as you have said it will be fixed once your domain transfer is done, we will be able to help you as soon as it is restored.

Members that signed up after the server move are fine. Old members can't do anything!

About Ultimate.cgi:
This is what it's meant to look like: http://208.56.225.208/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi
This is what it looks like: http://www.gaters.net/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi

I don't understand why! It's the same file.
Must be another file that's complicating the situation.

Perhaps another file which it is trying to include? hmm... I'll check into it.

Ah! It was the ubb-poll script that messed the bottom of the forum up. There was an error in the transfer of that poll.cgi file!
Now the copyright is back!!!!!!

If you're still having problems you're gonna need to remove the hacked version of your board and reinstall a generic stock ubb.

We can not provide support for hacked versions of the boards, as there are to many issues that are user caused, that we have no way of being able to diagnose.

I don't believe the problem is due to any hacks. It has something to do with the member files. Please try to consider this before you blow me off.

You're not being blown off, that's standard policy.

Whether or not you think it's due to the hacks, it could be, it could not be. However, with hacks in there, it's one more set of things that it could be, and we have no way to know for sure, therefore we require hacks to be removed.

Hacks shouldn't be done at the time of installation as it's an added layer of problems.

If install went fine, then messed up when hacked versions are added, then there;s the problem.

I suggest you back up your hack version, then install a generic version. Get that working then upload the hack versions again.

I'm not singling you out, or being an ass. From a tech support standpoint, this HAS to be the way.

I reverted to the generic version and I still get the same error.

This proves the problem is not due to my hacks.

So pretend the hacks are not there. Why would the forum produce such an error?

There is no reason to be that way.

My people have ben working with you on this for days now. It is clear that you have had connectivity problems, have had hack problems, had your copyright obscured. All of these things my people have patiently worked with you on while you worked them all out. When you finally did as requested and installed the stock scripts you gave just 6 hours, at night time, during the workweek and blasted us for not responding immediately.

It's still your choice. We can continue to patiently work with you or you can buy other software as you posted.

I do hope that if you do buy another form of software that you will be a little more realistic in you expectations and responses with their support volunteers.

and yet you still haven't offered a solution.

The way I understand it - the forums looks in memberlist.cgi for the name of the person, then looks at what number they are, then checks in the corresponding file to see if their username and password are correct.

When I look in user info and permissions section of my control panel all these members appear as numbers and their name and date of reg. fields remain blank.

I don't understand why this happens.

Have you ever seen something like this before? I'm pretty sure you have, because when I initially searched this forum other people had their problem straightened out, but it was never explained on the forum what the actual fault was.

Should I give someone my ftp info etc... ?

Sorry about that. I've been really busy the last week. I should have some time later tonight to take a look at it though. I will notify you as soon as I find the problem.

The problem is being caused by one of your hacks. Something related to the memlett directory in your Members directory is causing the problem. I have renamed the directory to memlettbak and all usernames should work again.
