I need to change a forum from public to private without losing the posts. I want to allow any registered user to view, but not unregistered users.

I selected in forum settings "restrict viewing and writing to authorised users.."

Minimum security selected.

I set a forum password (as I don't want to have to authorise each user).

I updated the threads.

I go to the forum and no threads are visible, if I set the restrict check box off, then then are visible again.

Can someone help - please!

I've just read about moving the forum files into the private directory in another thread,

But can someone give me the UNIX telnet commands to move the files correctly to save the time required to do it via FTP to my PC?
