Hi,

When users register they are allowed to not accept private messages. That is ok but the problem is that they sometimes "send" private messages and the recepients cannot reply to them. Leading to some frustration.

In the next version can you make users who "disable" incoming messages also unable to send them? It would make things easier.

Thanks alot,

-Jason

I have to double check, but I had thought if you refuse private messages you cannot send them either. I better check that....

Jason have you got registration moderation on? Are you refering to that time span between when they register and area proved? or at any time that PM reciept is disabled?

No registratio moderation but I just checked the members profile that sent the private message and saw the sign up questions.

"Allow members to send you private messages?" She has marked "No"

and

"Be notified by email when someone sends you a private message?" She has marked "yes"

But I still cannont send her a message.

So, what I did was create a "test" account by registering with her responses and even though I chose no to receiving PMs I was still able to send myself one successfully.

I then logged back in with my admin account and opened my new PM from the test account and was unable again to reply and got this error-

FYI
This member is not accepting private messages.

I just checked, VERY quickly. There is no such restriction. It is probably just a single if-line modification (or a few more lines and a wordlet to make it work NICEly), but it is NOT in there as of 6212.

We previously decided that this is the designed behavior (even though it's backwards and wrong )... I'll check if it will be changed.

OKay - we've decided that if you can't receive, you can't send either. Fixed in the next release. :

If an admin disables a member's ability to send PMs, will that also prevent other people from sending PMs to him?

(Not sure how that should work, but thought I'd mention it while the subject is being discussed.)

Yes, it should, actually.

I'm probably going to end up tying the two fields together.

Ah, the possibilities.

We've decided that we won't be doing that - it'll be a complete on/off toggle.
