Here's the deal: I recently upgraded to UBB 6.2 from a 6.0x board with no problems. Now after someone new registers on my board, this error shows up on any forums page:

Can't open file:
/home/virtual/xxxxxx/xxxxxx/cgi-bin/Members/userno.cgi! at /home/virtual/xxxxxx/xxxxxx/cgi-bin/ubb_forum_summary.cgi line 84, <MEMBFILE> chunk 348.

Please inform the board administration of this error so that they may fix the problem. Thank you! </pre>

Thankfully, I am able to fix the problem everytime by rebuilding the member stat files in the CP. But what may be causing this error and how can I prevent it from happening again? Sometimes I'm away from my board for 24-36 hours, and I don't want the board to be inoperative for that amount of time if someone new registers again. Thanks.

I can say with absolute certainty that we have no filehandle called 'MEMBFILE'.

Get rid of all your hacks.

Do not install any hacks in the future that use the standard Perl methods to open files.

I guess I was basically looking to see if it was a hacks problem or an upgrade problem. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I found out exactly where it was and it was due to a badly-coded beta hack. I took it out and it everything works perfectly. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
