A glitch in Private Messages.

Here's a screen snap:

My site URL is HERE.

I must have deleted a member that had sent me a private message. Is there any fix for this?

6.1.0.3 in case I didn't mention...

FTP to your Members directory and sort the listing by file size.

I bet you'll find that profile number at the top, zero-sized.

Umm, probably not...

I have seen this error before, it occurs when the member(s) you have sent a PM is removed. If you just delete the file from pm_users that matches your member numer then the error will go away, though it will remove your sent and received PMs (or the links to them, anyway).

Try it, it's easily reproducable: create a new member. Login as yourself, send the new member a PM. Then delete the new member and view your profile. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Sorry CC,

No zero-sized profiles.

There is one zero-size file called ".cgi". Probably has nothing to do with this problem, but should I remove it?

If the profile is not found, it should note that the profile was not found in the PM's row, not throw that error.

I am unclear if this has been answered yet. What can I do to fix this?

Go get RebuildMems 6.1 and use it to see if it can locate whatever phantom is causing the issue.

Once it's complete, view your profile again to see if the error persists.

If it does, it'll be support ticket time for you. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'll have to try that, but what about Kitt's assertion that this is easily reproducable?

I haven't heard anyone say otherwise yet. I also haven't tested it myself since I'm not eager to add bugs to my site. It Kitt right?

In my local 6.2s, it I get the "This member has been deleted" error, not the one you've noted.

(Maybe I fixed it already <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> )

As I still have this problem, I re-read this thread and realized something about what you said.

You said, "In my local 6.2s, it I get the 'This member has been deleted' error, not the one you've noted."

However, if you look at my screen shot, you will notice there should be 9 messages in the 'sent' area but only 2 are displayed before the error. The rest are unreachable.

Now I knew this, since they're my private messages. I wonder if you realized this as well.

As you said, you get a different error message. Do you also have unreachable messages after the one with the error message? Is your error in the 'To' column, does it replace the whole message, or does it wipe out everything below it like my error? If case #2 or #3, how do you access the message to delete it or even read it?

Your message may be different, but can you really consider the problem fixed in 6.2?

A workaround/fix will be included for this issue in 6.2.
