I have a private board CoA online running ubb6.103 on Slackware Unix. I just upgraded from 6.03, which went like a dream, thanks guys for such a smooth upgrade process.

I link direct to the registration (ubb=agree)page from the HTML on my site. So I thought it might be a good idea to remove the registration wording from the forums to discourage multiple identities. Our experience of troublemakers on our board is that they often use multi identities to support their own postition. (sad isn't it no real friends so they have to invent them)

Everyone who logs iinto the board must be a member so in theory they don't need the register option. Unfortunately the Profile wording disappears with it, disabling private messaging and all access to your profile. Is this designed behaviour or have I found an obscure bug. The login name disappears as well which is annoying but not so serious.

Thanks for your time and seasons greetings

Well I think the logic behind this is, that when people cannot register, they cannot have a profile. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I think the wording for that option needs to be changed. It does not just remove registration wording, it removes all use for registrations completely, thus no registered users and .. no profiles.

The good thing is that it does not delete your users, it just hides them.

Hi Kitt and David

I suspected it was probably designed behaviour and now I can see what it is trying to achieve.

Shame it looked like it was going to help me reduce the number of people with multi-logins.

Thanks for your help and a great product.

Easy. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Require unique email addresses.
Turn registration email verification on.
Turn on registration moderation.
Make sure the ability to have public names is enabled so they can change their screen name when they wish without reregistering.
