I read a post back in March saying that someone was working on this issue.

Basically being that one someone clicks POST, that the post comes up twice on the board. Of course, this may be from the user clicking twice on the "post reply" button, but has there been anything yet to update this?

PS>My flood control is on (cant be that, i guess)

This is happening frequently.

This is still being worked on - no cause for the random double posts has ever been found, nor a reason that the floodcheck fails to catch them.

I've got the luck that we have just started with it, so posting count a viewing the stuff is an high priority to see if everything is working correctly.

Charles, what if that user is using proxies, that change the user's IPs in every click? suggestion - check for both IP and member # (or name in case of unregistered)

Suggestion: check the message being posted against the previous message in the same thread (that'll take care of replies anyway).

Doesn't OT do something like this?

Couldn't you disable the Post button after being clicked? That would prevent someone from clicking twice.

But what happens if there's an error - when the user hits the back button, the submit button will still be disabled... <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I have this same problem, but it's a lot less often than 1/120. And I also have flood control enabled.

It's annoying, mostly because when it happens people apologize like it must have been their own fault. Then I feel like apologizing but I didn't do anything wrong either, and it's just messy.

It seems a perl bug on NT, one of the admins was looking for something (it was something else he was looking for but...) and had debugging put on into the highest level. In the logs he found a error in perl passing onto ubb scripts.
I haven't got the details on the log, but this is what he reported and that he would look into the latest update of perl if it was fixed.

I'll try to quote this telephone call as good as possible with the hilights.

What he saw was that a writing to one of the files gave back an error that writing was not succesfull and that a rewrite was done immidiately, but looking at the file size he could see that the file had succesfully been written the first time. So looking at the file afterwards he could see that the post was in it twice, with the same time.

Don't ask me how or what exactly he saw, but that was what he was telling me.

He had a similiar problem with an upload script, files where uploaded correctly but the info in it were there twice for a part of it.
