I am getting the same problem as others..I just did a brand new install today of v6.1.0.2 and everything went well (actually perfectly) UNTIL I tried to post my first messages <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

now I keep getting
"Could not find any forum_thread_data files! Please tell the board administrator to Rebuild Forum Stat Files for..."

The only way I managed to somewhat fix this VERY weird problem is to do like another member said....try and post a few times (even though it gives you an error)..refresh the main forum page..you will noticed that the posts are there yet you can't access them..

I then rebuilt the forum stats files (but this doesn't do anything)...I logged on using another account and posting again in the same forum even though it kept saying "Could not find any forum_thread_data files! etc.."

I then refreshed the main forum page again and saw that my 2nd test account post was there also...after fiddling around back and forth like this it unexpectedly started to work by deleting the posts and posting again (and back and forth)

As you can see this is VERY similar to how others are describing this problem...looks like a bug to me.

Help!
Thanks
MaxHal

It is difficult, if not completely impossible to properly diagnose most UBB problems without knowing which version of the UBB you are using, as well as the FULL URL to your ultimatebb.cgi file, (NOT a link to your webpage). Please provide this information. Thanks. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well, like my posts says above I did show the version number I am using (which is 6.1.0.2)..As for the URL..this is problematic since it is a private forum within a secure site. Nevertheless, I am experiencing the same issues as a few posters here have described about this problem.

Thanks

OKay, then I'll have to walk you through this blindly...

FTP into the server, and enter a Forum# directory for a forum showing this problem.

There will be a series of files there such as lasttime.file, lastnumber.file, forum_#.threads, forum_thread_data_0000.cgi, and upgrade.txt

Which of those files are there? Which aren't?

Hi Charles, ok for example..forum 3

my setup for forum 3 is a private forum (users need to be authorized to be able to use this forum)

Directory Files on the server

/members/forums/noncgi/forum3 (files listed)
forum_3.threads
forum_thread_data_0000.cgi
upgrade.txt
index.html

/members/forums/noncgi/forum3/private-BYJGVO (forum 3 dir also contains a sub-directory - the files are listed below)
forum_.threads
index.html
upgrade.txt
000001.cgi
forum_3.threads
lastnumber.file
lasttime.file

if you want I could set you up with an account to logon to the ubb cp and private forums...let me know

Thanks
MaxHal

forum_.threads - you're absolutely sure it says forum_.threads, not forum_3.threads ?

No, but something's certainly wrong with it.

Nuke it and the forum_thread_data file, then rebuild stats again - which files get recreated?

When you say nuke it...do you mean delete all the Forum dirs? well that's what I did but obviously my control panel now gives me fatal errors as it can't find my forum dirs anymore...so...Do I need to re-create the dirs and add the blank index.html file into each of them in order for the rebuilding of the forum files to work?

Nuke the single file (forum_.threads)

This morning I re-installed everything from scratch and everything worked well (posting and deleting) BUT as soon as I did a Rebuild Forums Stats File I started getting...

"Could not find any forum_thread_data files! Please tell the board administrator to Rebuild Forum Stat Files"

I re-checked my dir (which is /members/forums/noncgi/Forum2/private-5KCDYD)

and the file forum_thread_data_0000.cgi is indeed missing now...the Rebuild Forums Stats function removed it! <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

OKay.. let's hold on a sec. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Is there anything in that private-gibberish directory other than the upgrade.txt/last*.file/ files?

Delete anything that isn't a topic file and rebuild again.

If it still throws the error, please open a support ticket - I want to look at the board. We haven't been able to catch one of these problems in the wild before.

Is there any official resolution/recommendation for this issue? This is occurring on a number of our forums after the upgrade.

These are not forums that were present prior to the upgrade but rather forums that were created after the upgrade to the 6.1.0.2 version.

Thanks

Max never opened a ticket, but someone else did. The bug was found and has now been squished in 6.2.0.
