Recently upgraded from classic to threads. The problem that has ensued has killed the community.

People can log in, and click on a topic, then get automatically logged off. Cookies were set to 10 months before logging off, that didn't help.

Here is where it gets bizarre. I downloaded another browser, and have no issues whatsoever, if I use the old browser that I used on classic, I get logged off after 1 or 2 posts.

It's the same for the whole community, the only people that can post now, are those that got another browser to use on the forum.

Any ideas, suggestions, thoughts, fixes ?? I am at wits end, I went from one of the top forums for my theme, to totally dead, and I can't let this continue.

Appreciate any help on this area. I know the gurus are here !

This looks like it's your banner ad script. UBB.threads uses a couple of cookies when you login. Cookie specifications state that you can only have a maximum of 20 cookies on your computer from a single domain.

Every time a new page is loaded on your site, your banner ad software sets a new cookie. Once the 20 cookie limit has been reached, the oldest cookies get removed from the users computer. Eventually this removes the cookies that UBB.threads uses to track that you're logged in, and voila, you're logged out.

I don't think that's the problem though. Because when another browser is used, it never logs out, unless you log it out.

Have you tried to wipe all the cookies clean for your domain in your old browser?

Some browsers ignore the cookie spec and just allow you to keep accumulating cookies. Get a cookie tracker, I use the built in one with Mozilla Firefox. As you browse through the pages you can see the number of cookies from your site getting bigger and bigger and eventually you'll see the ones from .threads disappear and be left with 20 ad cookies.

Freak - my suggestion would be to rem the banner add script out for 24 hours and see if the problem goes away. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I am going to shut down all banners but 1 set, as I must have 1 banner showing. I have already done this with the 120x60's

I cleared out all old cookies, cleared out cookies on the board and it didn't change a thing.

Logged off as before.

Did you resolve this? I'm having the same issue and I need help. Any ideas?
