I have a news board that I want only a certain group of users to have root post rights e.g. only staff allowed to post news, but I want my other users to be able to reply to those root news posts.

I think there is an hack for that somewhere here...it sounds like a good option, but if you need it at once take a look at the hack-boards....

I have them working on 5.4 but the instructions haven't been updated from 5.0.9 yet.
