Hey all,

I know I'm going to get attacked by this, but I'd like you all to educate me a little.

Vbulletin looks a bit more flashier and has so many other options that threads doesn't. I've tried to change templates and styles so it looks a little more interesting, but I don't get too far. Plus it's cheaper! Did I mention the admin functions rock! I've been a happy classic user for a long time, then upgraded to threads... love that it uses PHP with mysql but it just doesn't have the features I really like in VB. I mean, heck, even OpenTopic rocks on the design... Why can't Threads have a similar design?

Anticipating your responses.

Threads is more efficient and reliable than vBulletin. Threads is short on features because Rick cares for reliability and speed. Threads virtually produces 1/3 of the SQL queries of vBulletin.

The OpenTopic/UBB.x UI is not currently possible because it uses DHTML menus, which is proprietary to certain browsers. In order to get that UI into threads, browser detection would be needed.

What makes you think vB has a better design than UBB.threads? I find vBulletin's interface cluttered and hard to use for the novice user. I definately disagree with the people who say vBulletin looks like UBB.

Different strokes for different folks. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Remember we aren't here to bash vB.... but instead to talk about specific features that we want to see in threads. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

We are seeing new features added over time, so that the impact can be measured on each new feature.

Too many radical changes at once could make a mighty buggy version, and alot of headaches. It's best to introduce stuff slowly. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

But many, much requested features here have become standard.

Stay tuned to the changelog for more "surprises". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> It seems to be changing every day. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />
