Currently in Threads, if you add a new user group, that group has zero permissions what-so-ever in each foroum. So to add read/write permission to that group, you have to edit each forum, one at a time. A real pain. Especially if your new group would be paid users and would have access to all public forums plus extras.

My solution: Mass group permission change!

Currently you can only edit permissions on the edit forum page (or create forum, but we're working on the assumption that the forums are already there, the group is what's new). At the bottom you can edit that forum's permissions per user group.

A better plan would be to have a new admin page where you can edit a group's permissions (not edit forum) on a PER FORUM basis. It would look like the bottom of the edit forum page with the rows and columns and radio buttons. The columns still represent different permission levels, but the rows are for all the forums on the site. The page is for the user group you're changing permissions for.

Basicly as an administrator you would go to the admin panel, click on Mass Group Permission Change. You then pick which group to edit. Then shows up a list of all the forums (vertical list) w/ all the current permissions, almost the same way it looks in edit forum.

If you have a new user group, it would have the radio button highlighted under No Access for each forum. Then you could click away and give them the appropriate permissions very quickly.

Click on Submit, and voila!

Let me know if I was clear enough on what I meant in this suggestion, because even I find myself confusing occasionally. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
