I heartily agree with that! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> I've wanted an IP Search from the first day I installed w3t. This is very useful, at least in my situation, where a user, using AOL e.g., has been banned, but reregisters with a different username. As it is now, we have to search through back posts to compare IP addresses to see if is the same "unwanted" individual.
My guess is that they want to search through/for the IPs that each post was made from, which is something I'd really like as well. phpMyAdmin does the job, but it would be much nicer to be able to do it from within w3t's admin section.
yes i have made this request before also. Registration IP's are only a small subset of the IP's that are logged on the board. The board logs the IP of every single post and it would be very helpful if one could search these, not just the registration IP's.
I have to agree once again. I tried doing a search in the Admin section using a user's IP and got no results. Plugging in different values, etc. still produced no results??? What I want is to be able to type in an IP and have the results show all usernames associated with that IP. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> It would be nice if this search option was available in the Admin section for Administrators and Moderators (toggle?).
To my knowledge this feature isn't working in the PHP version (at least not mine). Although it only searches the registration IP's, and not the post IP's (I remember back to my PERL versions). We've had some very unwanted visitors on the board I run, and it would be nice to exterminate them quickly with their dial-ups by finding certain ranges and so forth. I would just consider this a very strong feature I hope Scream adds in the next version, as I feel it could be immenseley valuable to those of us who run a more controlled board.
This has been requested numerous tmies and it's CRITICAL. In Perl we had a hack for it, but I have not found one yet for PHP. We ABSOLUTELY need this. The reg IP search is useless. We need to be able to search for troublesome users by their IPs. That's where IP searching is needed most. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
Just a note for those who wanted to search for posts by IP address -- I've posted a hack for it <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wwwthreads.com/perl/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=custom&Number=40871>here</A>.
Yep, I'm aware of that. But I don't know PHP, and I'm sure you don't expect me to learn just so that I can make a hack for you. So, unfortunately, that leaves you the choice of hacking it yourself, or hoping that Scream adds it in. Sorry!
There is already a way... go to the Admin section, Select <font color=blue>Database Manager</font color=blue>, then choose <font color=blue>SQL Command</font color=blue>, and enter something like:
select B_Username,B_IP from w3t_Posts where B_IP like '204.201.%' or
select B_Username,B_IP from w3t_Posts where B_IP = '204.201.23.16' or
select B_Username,B_IP from w3t_Posts where B_IP like '%.204.201.%' etc... then execute the query... maybe more manual than you want, but it is right there for you... Matt
