since my community is mostly from a ubb.classic background, we're not used to the idea of changing subjects back and forth, between posts. and, quite honestly, i've yet to discover a justifyable reason why any one would opt to have that feature.

having a new subject field above every reply post is unnecessary (to us).

so, would it be possible to make that a toggled option? default could leave it there (if thats what most ubb.threads users are used to) -- as long as there is a way to disable it in the CP easily <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

A compromise could be to pass the existing subject text value into the subject box as a default.

It's at least easy to fix via the templates.

Upon inspection it already is, I'm not seeing the real issue here, if they don't want to change it , they don't.. what am I missing?

If I made a thread about Frogs titled "Frogs: Wow they rule" I wouldn't want some idiot to change it to something like "Frogs: Taste Like Chicken"

yeah, thats the type of problem i've faced. even worse, if someone changed the thread title to "what i liked about the matrix" -- it makes the original thread harder to locate.

yes, of course, its still there and findable, etc, however, for my community anyway, that makes an unnecessary step, and a confusing one for the not-so-savvy.

id prefer to just keep the subject as it is, throughout.

Okay try this (quick fix for now):

Edit the newreply.tmpl and find:

<input type="text" name="Subject" maxlength="{$config['subjectlength']}" class="formboxes" size="60" value="$Subject" /><br />

change the part in bold to "hidden" and put $Subject at the end of the tag before the <br .

The same goes for editpost.tmpl, open it and find:

<input type="text" name="Subject" value="$Subject" maxlength="{$config['subjectlength']}" class="formboxes" size="60" />

change the part in bold to "hidden" and put $Subject at the end of the tag.

Hope this helps. Make Backups First!
