I am thinking about moving my hosting from NT to Linux... Can UBB run with Linux? How would go about installing/moving those files? Do I use the instructions for NT? Or Unix?

Sorry, I have so many questions. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Here is all the info I found about the paths

All systems run on Red Hat Linux 6.2/7.x and come with popular software pre-installed such as Perl 5, PHP 4 and MySQL.

Sendmail: /usr/sbin/sendmail
Perl: /usr/bin/perl
Date: /bin/date
Java: /usr/bin/java
Whois: /usr/bin/whois
Web directory: /home/username/public_html
Cgi-bin: /home/username/public_html/cgi-bin

Yes UBB works on Linux. It is a Unix server, use the Unix directions. You will have to move ALL of your UBB files, that means everything all your ubb cgi files, the non-cgi files, and the Members directory. You will have to set all the permissions properly on the files as well. Cgi-bin files should be set to 755 except the VARS files, which should be 777. The Members directory and all its contents should be 777. The non cgi directory and its contents should be set to 777 to be safe as well.

Ok, just made the move. Everything seemed to be going ok...... but I can't access the messageboard at all.

I've tried, bringing everything over .... setting permissions and this error. So I tried to follow the moving instructions by installing a new board first. And the error.

I am pretty sure I am using the right path to my CGI bin to get to cp.cgi.... but nothing. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

ISE's (Internal Server Errors) are caused by one or more of the following:

1. Path to Perl 5.xx is not set correctly in the cp.cgi and ultimatebb.cgi files
2. File and/or directory permissions are not set correctly
3. One or more files were uploaded in binary mode. ALL files (except for files ending in .gif or .jpg) should be uploaded in ASCII. DO NOT use your FTP client's auto-detect mode, force it to ASCII only.

If you have checked all of the above then the only way to further a solution to your problem is for you to complete a support ticket as it will require admin and FTP access.
