In the beginning of the directions #1 is says:

Quote
1. Upload all files in the cgi-bin folder of the .zip into the directory your UBB(tm) currently uses. If you are installing on a Unix system all of these files and your cgi directory must be 755.
Now does this mean your ubb directory:
(ie: /www/ubb or /www/cgi-bin/ubb_cgi_ files_go_here)

that sits below your cgi-bin or the ubb cgi directory where your ubb cgi-bin files live for those that use another directory besides plain old cgi-bin.

Which directory do the directions refer too?

I have no idea why you are posting an installation issue for UBB6 in a non-installation issue forum for UBB5.

Assuming from your domain name that you're on a Linux server, this thread is being moved to the UBB6 Unix Installation forum for further followups.

Charles...heehee
I just realized I made the mistake of posting the wrong forum.

Thanks!

Any ideas to my question?

Oh sure, I post for help on your board and go unanswered.... Just kidding!

Your current scripts are located at /path/to/your/domain/cgi-bin/ubbcgi

Put the new files in the same directory. I.E., wherever Ultimate.cgi lives is where ultimatebb.cgi shall live.

Your current noncgi files are at /path/to/your/domain/ubb Your new noncgi files will go there.

First:
What kind of help were you needing? Maybe I can be of some assistance?

Second:
So basically 1 and 2 in the directions is to unzip the contents into your ubbcgi directory.

Now in #1 you say UBB currently uses and in #2 you say UBB CGI directory. It seems #2 is more clear than say #1. I got confused between the noncgi and the ubbcgi directory when both should go into the ubbcgi directory.

Thanks again...just wanted to state my confusion and see if you agreed or if it would help someone else.

Actually I was just kidding. I did post there a long long time ago about a corrupted wtmp that was unanswered more because nobody knew the answer then because they didn't want to. No biggy and i worked it out. that made me less a newbie then before.

You do a great job at NHO, I send a heck of a lot of people there!

I'll take another pass on the instructions tomorrow and see if I can make them clearer. When I wrote them it was after 20 or 30... probably more.. installations and it was tough for me to think as someone would if they had never seen UBB6 before. Thanks
