After i get in the setup for the first time (the setup is done in a local board) i keep getting this error (after i submit the info):

Error including required files: Make sure these files exist, permissions are set properly, and paths are set correctly

please notice that no files are marked after the "Error including required files:" , the ubb6 test script works fine.. so does the enviorment info.. but every thing messes up after i submit the info.. and when i unzip it again it works but messes after i try to continue.. can any one please help me?

here are my info:

Perl Version 5.006 (Active State)
Server Type Microsoft-IIS/4.0 (PWS/w98)
UBB: 6.0 beta 7

thanks in advance!

I am not sure you have the exact same problem, but take a look at:
http://www.scriptkeeper.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=30&t=000004

You will have to deal with the 'flock' problem anyway, sooner or later.

Yes!!!! That is the problem.

Comment out the three flock lines in ubb_lib.cgi (or use the eval solution in the other thread).

Reload vars_config.cgi as it may be zero length.

Go to the cp.cgi and resubmit your paths and URLs.

Check this post

You might have a problem in the Members directory because of the failed initial setup. Since you have not registered any user yet, try reloading those files and see what happens. I have not been playing with UBB6 long enough to know its quirks. Possibly, one of the Infopop folks will see this thread, soon.

it can't be that, because started all over again after each failed attemp attempting a new method of installing.. and i can't post it to bug because ubb 6 is not official meant to non-nt/unix based systems..

Ok, i fixed it.. for any one that have the same problem like me here is how i did it:

1> mapped perl to the cgi-bin dir of ubb
2> moved all the verb to the ubb cgi-bin dir

lol, i reallt should start reading readme's more often.. sorry for being lazy.. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

i will update if i will have more problems..

Sorry this question is out of topic. I'm currently hosting at www.crystaltech.com (ASP), and I'm having problem with the send mail. Whenever a user register, after they completed everything, they always receive this message:

Software error:
SMTP MAIL command failed: Please check your SMTP mail server name. This server seems to exist but does not seem to allow us to relay mail. at cgi-bin/ubb_lib_mail.cgi line 39
For help, please send mail to this site's webmaster, giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

This is not a problem when I try to register myself and using the email at my domain. I wish that you could help me to solve this problem.
Thank you very much for your time.

Vu Nguyen,

Please do not add posts to an old unrelated thread. Your SMTP server is not accepting relays from your UBB. Check with your host to find out what SMTP server is configured for relay, if any. Be sure you have valid email addresses in your General Settings and Registration Settings.
