We have gotten this error several times since our upgrade from 5.47d to 6.4.0.1. Everytime I rebuild the Member Stat files and it fixes the problem, except the error occurs about every 3-4 days. Also, if I happen to not get to the rebuild of the Member Stat files, the Control Panel will not let me login until I get our host to reboot our server. This also keeps our readers from being able to login to post on the forums as well.

We have a large readership that regular posts in the forums. Please help...I am at a loss.

You have a file lock that isn't being unlocked sounds like. Ask them if your data is being mounted across an NFS share, would you?

Also I notice that you do not have the UBBAccelerator turned on. It's in your control panel under primary settings, on the configuration screen. You'll save a lot of bandwidth and a lot of server load if you tirn that on.

Regarding the UBBAccelerator, it was my understanding that you can only use that if you have PHP installed. Is this correct?

I have posed the question to the host and I am awaiting their response. I will post as soon as I get their answer.

Thanks!

Got a response from the host and he said that we have no NFS share.

Thanks!

Yes, PHP is required to run the UBB Accelerator

It does require php. You do have php. the accelerator on your site passes.

You can save a considerable amount of bandwidth and server load by turning it on.

Another thing you can do to help is prune out some of the users that have never posted, or haven't posted in the last year.

You do a really good job over at simhq keeping your forums pruned and messages archived. Don't forget to prune out some of the older unused members too.

We are are experiencing the problem again. It seems that we will have an EXTREME slowdown and then we get blank done pages on the forums and no one can login. Whether they are trying to login into Control Panel or the forums for posting. Please help! I am trying to login to the CP to turn on the accelerator, but I can't get there.

Thanks!

Download your vars_config.cgi file, in ASCII.

look for

q!EnableAccel! => q!NO!,

should be the third line from the bottom.

make it say

q!EnableAccel! => q!YES!,

Upload again, in ASCII.
