Hello,
I transferred my domain to a new NT server. All works well, apart from my mail.
This hostingservice doesnot give standard SMTP service "in order to avoid unnecessary traffic." (I am however able to manage a mailserver on this account)
So I have to use the smtp service of the provider that connects me with the internet.
When I give the name of their SMTP server (smtp.wish.nl) in the cp-emailsettings, it doesnot work, because the server is not found.
Is there a solution for that.

Please contact your dialup ISP and ask them for information on using their SMTP server. It sounds like they are (correctly) having it reject connections from other hosts.

Well, actually my hostingservice says now that I have smtp.
Mij servername is
bijenhouden.nl
After using this I get the message

Software error:
Failed to connect to mail server: Unknown error

Please check your SMTP mail server name. Make sure the server exists and will allow relay from this IP address or domain.

The server you have entered into your configuration does not appear to exist or is not allowing a connection from this UBB.

at (absolute path my domain)/cgi-bin/ubb_lib_mail.cgi line 39
For help, please send mail to this site's webmaster, giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

That indicates that the UBB could not connect to the SMTP server - ask your host again...
