some weird things going on with my board..

1) Sometimes i will try to go to my forum my homepage and it tells me that the password i have provided is incorrect...but at the top of the warning page it shows my name with option to log out! note i am not trying to log in...just going to the forum from my homepage with the following link "/m3forumcgi/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi". If i click the log out at the top of the warning page and then go to the forum it will allow me to get there. I have noticed that it seems to do this if i close my browser and open it back up and try to go to the forum it gives me the incorrect pw warning.

I am using the accelerator...should i be using the "/ubb/ultimatebb.php" on my homepage to link to the forum? is this what is causing the prob?

2) sometimes I will log out but when i go the the forum homepage, it shows me as still being logged in. but if i go the a specific forum then it says im not logged in!

please help! i am really concerned about the first prob as when i encounter this problem the link to the forum from my homepage gives the incorrect password warning.

thanks,

frank

First, the easy answer. Use ultimatebb.cgi for ALL links to your board. DO NOT LINK to ultimatebb.php

Now, the hard stuff.

I'm going to guess that:
a) This is related to this thread you opened
b) You might have bad cookies - I'd suggest clearing your browser's cookie file for your domain.

hi thanks for the reply.

i switched the link on my homepage to .php and it worked and i got no warning going from my homepage to my forum. this was on the same computer. should i change the link back to .cgi from .php? will this cause probs for people who are first time vistors or something? i tested with both links on my homepage and i got a warning with the .cgi but not with .php but this was on my computer.

but im kinda confused how this might be related to the other thread? the prob there was that i had put the forum title in the email box in forum display admin. i just change the email to the correct one in vars_display...i cleared out my cookies but still got the warning using the .cgi link.

thanks for the help

Are you the only one experiencing this problem on your board? Have you used the cookie clearing functions?
