On Windows 2000 system, if I create a new forum, and attempt to make a post (or infact, if I attempt to post to ANY forum that currently has 0 posts), I get the following error message:

No such file or directory opening c:/inetpub/wwwroot/ubb/cache-2LUACNUM/search_index/forumindex14.cgi (called by c:/inetpub/wwwroot/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ubb_lib_posting.cgi, 1019) at c:/inetpub/wwwroot/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ubb_lib_files.cgi line 541.

Is it possible to fix a corrupt cache? I've tried using rebuild forum stats and clear cache, but I still get the problem.

This started on 6.05, and is still occuring on 6.10 beta 1.2.

Any ideas?

Did you try rebuilding your search indexes?

Yes. I've tried rebuilding everything.

One thing I forgot to mention is that we installed a new fileserver here, and while the forums are hosted on this Win2K machine, we had to change the IP range that the machines on the internal network use.

This is when I noticed the problem started. Would the cache files be dependant on the IP address of the host machine?

All the configuration paths are unchanged?

Yes. The only thing that also changed was the IP address for the mailserver, which has been updated.

Forums that existed and had posts are fine.
Existing forums that had 0 posts caused the error when you tried to open the forum.
If I rename the cache directory, I can then open the forum without the message. (Last time though, if I then posted a message, it repeated the error, however, unbeknown to me at the time, it DID actually add the post to the forum.)

I've just renamed the cache folder so it will create a new one, and then I am going to rebuild the forum stats before attempting to post, and see if that helps.

Thanks very much.

That worked.. although I am confused because I followed the upgrade instructions to the letter, and I had already run the "Upgrade UBB" option after installing the 6.10 1.2 files....

Thanks for the help.... Have a pint on me.

I've just found that I have also had to 'create' the missing 'forum' folders, and then do the Upgrade UBB and Rebuild Forum Stats once again.

thanks

J.
