I think the warning / banning system needs enhancing.

1) Would be nice to see time bans - suspended members are then unbanned automatically after say 24 hours, 7 days, 28 days or however long the ban is for.

2) The ability to ban members from individual forums / categories. This would save creating a new group that excludes posting rights from a forum and adding a member to it.

3) Also maybe a three strikes and you are out system - if a member gets a warning it displays beneath their display name a yellow card, three of these cards would generate a ban. Other members would see these warnings, and it might shame them into towing the line. Viewing of these warnings could be visible to all, members, mods or admins as IP's are now.

1 Good idea smile - Would help fogetting about them lol
2 I would only sugest the Shout Box as an addition.
3 From my experience on other boards, members with any visible
"Warning Stars" laugh at it..

Then they want to know the in's and outs of why?
I send warnings via pm.

Not every forum has respectfull members,
there not all bad, but its the 1 that spoils it for many.

3 warning system,
I guess you would also need a way for the warnings to go down?
Manually Add a Yellow card.
But if no further warnings were added with in a time period,
yellows begin to reduce.

So if say you had 2 yellow (1 to go before a ban).
After 1 week it would reduce to 1 yellow
and then finally after 2 weeks the yellow cards have gone.

Its taking the the O i forgot out of it,
as you wont forget to bann the git !

Indeed the yellow card would have to come off after a set period of time.

Automation is good as it would take another task away from the admins.

Choice is the name of the game, as like other options what is best for a large and busy forum is not always right for a small community.

Yes I can see the shout box being totally abused by people cussing you out on it smile It's like a soapbox for everyone to see.
