Perhaps I'm just missing how or where but I don't see any way to modify a poll

The new Wizard method of the poll seems a bit different than the previous version of UBBT

If someone can point out how to edit thanks, if not then I would like to suggest that EDIT of polls be enabled / added

I spent about 30 minutes creating one then found I didn't like some of it but did not see a method to modify it so I had to delete the whole thing.

This is expected behavior to us UBB.C users; we've never been able to edit polls wink

Now I see what is different - You don't seem to be able to add QUESTIONS you can say how many OPTIONS but the POLL is missing how it used to work.

1. Ask your questions
2. Choose your options to the questions

Item 1 is missing.

I wanted to ask 8 questions but only allow YES/NO to the questions which was quite easy to do in the old POLL method. In this new Wizard it does not seem to be possible.

Thanks Gizmo for the feedback.

Rick, I would really like to see the ability to edit a POLL be added for 7.x

oh... and while we're at it I don't see any way to PREVIEW the POLL to see how it looks before I commit it.

Would like to request a method to preview the POLL for accuracy and layout - i.e. how it looks before you post it.

Currently I would have to say that the POLL is 1 can short of a six-pack and of little value now compared to previous versions as I remember them.

Yes, don't get me wrong the new method is good idea, but some major pieces of the old method are missing that really cripple it.

It's tough to edit a poll and retain its validity. What would prevent someone from changing the answers once a poll started? Even adding additional answer choices once a poll starts invalidates it. Got a typo? Fix it before posting it. wink

Best idea is to think it thru before posting it. There's no rush. Thinking it thru first never fails, if you've actually thought it thru first. wink

But in any event...

Yeah, we used to be able to ask multiple questions. That's sorely missed. I don't think multiple polls is the answer in that regard. And a preview would be nice, too. cool

I would but you can't preview it.

I understand where you're coming from too Geoff but perhaps allow the user to modify it up UNTIL the point where someone actually votes, then mark it as non-editable. That should satisfy both our concerns.

Correct, it is not the answer (at least not to me)

I agree completely.

I do however think we should be able to preview the poll and edit it BEFORE it is posted; but would like to retain the ability of not being able to edit it once it's posted (see above quoted text).

In calssic you could add [img] tags to the questions
and then you sould say which one do you like?
As in the questions became images.

But you cant with v7
Not the end of the world, but somthing i miss.

Eidt a poll, preview a poll before posting smile
Still nice feature to be able to reply will a poll.

I think that we should be able to edit polls.

Take Mark's (I think it was Mark) poll here the other day - he made a spelling mistake and so it would be good to go in and edit that poll without having to database dive.

Some typos may not become apparent until the poll is live - and are pointed out by users.

None of the polls are scientific, so allowing admins to add options to polls wouldn't be a bad idea - if admins go mad then people will just not bother voting, so it is not in their interest.

So edit polls would be great IMHO

Ahh, if people just used Firefox 2.0 they'd have a real time spell checker built in. wink But I definitely agreed with a preview before posting...

Agree that an Admin should be able to always modify any type of post on the board.

As for normal users I think they should be able to modify their OWN poll up until someone actually votes (then it would take an Admin/Mod to correct anything in it) - (IMHO)

Regardless of the preview and edit the actual functionality of creating questions really needs to be corrected / restored

Multiple questions are still possible. In the new format you create multiple polls. This was an older feature request, as sometimes people would make polls with about 20 questions in them. Sometimes the user didn't want to answer them all, maybe just one or two of them and this wasn't possible in the old format. In the new format, you just add a poll for each question, which gives a bit more flexibility.

Editing the polls has never been an option with .threads either. But I can look into it at some point.

Thanks for the input Rick. Not intuitive at all but I'll try some more examples to see how it works out.

I think editing a poll up-until the first vote is casted is a good compromise; however I think that, in order to preserve the validity of a poll, options shouldn't be able to be changed once it's been voted on...

I think if i remember you can go in and remove the poll,
but i'm not 100%

That's if a member posted a disruptive post.

Okay Rick I played with this some but I just don't see how I can get YES/NO or Advanced answers to each of the questions? I can ask the question but can't seem to provide a pre-selected choice of acceptable replies.

Can you please explain how I'm supposed to post it so that users can only select a YES/NO and for each of the 8 questions.

Okay I think I see now how it could be done, but wow that really is a step back (IMHO) from what it used to be.

I could post my 8 questions 1 at a time then provide a YES/NO but that would be like 16 POLLS in one post and no aggregate total for the answers thus leaving it very non user friendly or at least in this case of much value.

If you can provide a better example of using the new POLL feature that would be great - I just don't see how to do one that would seem to work and flow as one like they used to do.

Yes, I see now and replied in those posts.

Thanks - I was doing it wrong. Was blindly looking for the word QUESTION not Poll Name I was thinking Poll Name was giving it some other item of importance to the database.

Well please give me back the non-flexible format as well, you say it ADDS but I see it as taking away as in you simply changed the manner you didn't ADD a manner/method.

This is just not better to me.

I'm okay with having it available, but I think the old method should be available as well.

@Jgeoff from his previous suggestions:
The idea of EDITING is not possible either
1. Can't preview the POLL
2. Once submitted in the Wizard you can't edit even though you've not posted the overall post of the thread I've not left the wizard yet and I still can't edit anymore so to me that is not good.

Okay one more item about POLLS

I don't think I as the creator and admin should have to vote to view the results - In many cases that could invalidate the outcome as I might have a vested interest or opinion on the POLL.

Rick - please consider adding/changing the ability of the creator of the poll to be able to view results without having to vote.

Sorry... not meaning to spam but since I was forced to vote to view the results I found another ugly behavior.

The POLL ended up being near the bottom of a long post. Each time I press the vote button now it refreshes the page and puts me at the top of the page. That is ANNOYING as I now have to do it 8 times to complete what should have been a single poll.

Sorry to complain but this plain sucks the way it currently works.

I agree, the owner of the poll, admin, and moderators, shouldn't have to vote to see results.
