You know what I noticed is missing, if you have flagged a forum as a watched forum the magnifying glass is not showing anymore on the forum page.

Great - thanks Rick. Hopefully the members area can get it by Friday so that I can install it on our site this weekend. I'm on 7.02 right now and was tempted to do 7.1B4 but figured B5 would be much better.

I have them for threads - but not for forums - I have the main announcement forum watched.

I had to clear my temp files and cookies again. I did it last night and didnt think i had to do them again. After I did the buggers came back

Ive logged on to these forums from a diffrent machine,
so i may encounter those issues when i get home.

But the machine i'm using did log on 2 days ago...

Just logged in at home, and the buggers are there.

Now I using my german language file here and it looks good. If I find any problem I will report it.

Thanks - That sounds good as we have a few German speaking members I'd like to enable them to use it if they want.

One issue - which is really a bug is that the email notification of the post is actually in the posters language, rather than the language of either the user or the forum default.

This should either be in the language of the member or the forum default.

Otherwise on a large board, people might get 3 or 4 languages in their emails....

I was given the opportunity to add the announcement forum to my watchlists (knowing that it already was, despite the glass not showing) - When I tried adding it - it the said it had been removed from my list(????) - I was then able to add it again, and glass is now showing - so not sure what happened.

I vote forum default lol...

If it is in the choice of the member - then Zarzal would always get it in German and I would always get it in English (or American English )

Why would you want emails to default to the forum default rather than the recipient's personal preference?

Well, then... a My Preferences option...
"Do you want to receive emails in English, or, your language?"
(as long as the board supports it, of course )

Well, I was more thinking of for rick's having to code for it being a pain ...

But a big question is that how is it going to work with your inputted text being mass mailed to all users? The only things that will be in *another* language would be the wordlets, the post would be in the original submitted language...

Now there are several board emails that could be differant languages, such as registration and new pm, but it'd be pointless with a new pm unless the user sending said message was sending something in the language... though that'd assume that we'd have some sort of support for ubb.c style pm messages (where content of the pm was emailed to users, which i loved btw)

But my point is, if you're gonna "pick" a language - how can you not pick the recipient's language? S/HE is the one who has to read it - regardless of the language the post itself was written in!

But yes, I want content mailed to users; Rick didn't like the idea, citing that it was chosen way back in early threads not to do that due to wanting users to visit the forums to receive their pm's... though my point was that users could receive content and come to the forums to pm users back... We agreed to disagree i guess :/.

But we're not really talking about the content of the emails... we're talking (here) about the default language of the email template.

And of course the default template language would *ideally* be the recipient's preference, I would think. Not someone else's preference.

(Hey, it doesn't matter to ME at all - I just think my idea makes sense If everyone received emails in their own language - to me, that makes sense.... lol )

I'm curious how this would happen without some un-needed overhead though... think of it, vs sending emails to users, we'd have to look up each users preferance then include that language file; which could be kinda fun to watch on an overloaded server if you where sending mass emails hehe

PM's should be emailed - I find it very annoying to have to visit the forum, just to read it.

However in order to reply one has to visit - so the number of visits does not go down. The only difference being that I do not waste time visiting if the PM does not need dealing with immediately.

Suggestions don't always include solutions. IMHO, my suggestion makes sense. And how could it not? But, implementation, of course, is something else... and that something else is Rick's decision, not mine...

know what'd be best? an option for it to work either way, then admins could choose ... But Rick said he doesn't want a switch for everything (unlike in .C where charles included a switch for just about anything in the vars lol)
