Hi,

I have a forum, which is inactive - however I can still see it.

Short of making each group, unable to see it, there seems no way to fully hide it just by disabling.

Also the breadcrumbs are shown as...

Fans Focus » Forums » » »

Thanks.

Hmm, sounds like possibly a cache issue. Disabled forums shouldn't show up anywhere except for the control panel. We have a couple of disabled forums here, and just tested to make sure and I can't see them anywhere.

Is it showing everywhere? Like in the search, the jump to menu, etc?

Hi,

I have just disabled a couple of minor forums that we do not require.

http://www.fansfocus.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/127

for example - this appears still to guests (I am logged in via FF2 and a guest under IE7, and I can see it under both)

It is still being shown under sub-forums - but not under the 'hop-to', and of course it appears if directly entering the URL.

incidentally people can still post in the de-activated forums - however their posts are sent for approval, despite the forum not have approval set to be on.

Ive only seen this happening as admin.

1. Make sub-forums
2. In Forum Option (CP) Untick Enable forum. Its still there?
3. Move that forum to a diffrent catergory and it disapears as expected. (Enabled= unticked).

More of a Heads up, if i have time i will test
to see if Joe public can see them as visable or not?

I did clear the cache but they were still visiable until
i moved them to the other catergory.

Mark see- https://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/178575/page/1#Post178575 - these remain visible to all that have permission to view the forum (i.e. members & guests)

what ive noticed is the following.

While preparing a New Forum and sub forums,
I would work with ALL Permissions Except ADMIN No View.

So i can only see the forums as i prep them up for ready.
I made a couple of ones that i didn't need, and decided
to turn them off using the "Enable Forum" option to Un ticked.

When ive done that there still in view to me as ADMIN ?
But as i have the permissions so high as in ADMIN only
i don't think any one else can see this happening.

So when i un tick the Enable Forum there visible to me,
but if i move them to category 1 which is a category
that i don't use they do disaper as expected.

So it seems to be the move that enables them to
behave as expected for me.
As in become hidden.

You might want to try that with your forums IAN
just to see if its a quick fix ?

Actually, in UBB.C you could disable forums but still enter them if you knew the URL to it; which is how some groups carried off with "hidden forums"; I don't necessarily say that being able to access it is a bug, but I will go with being able to see it in a forum listing is a bug.

Definitely seems to be a bug that I'll need to track down.
